Meet your doula
Hi, I’m Elizabeth (she/her)
I have experience as a Public Health Nurse home visitor to pregnant or parenting families, Registered Nurse in a hospital birthing unit, nanny to infants and young children, labor support doula for over 25 families, and currently as a postpartum doula.
I spent my earliest years growing up on my parent’s farm, then called Blue Heron Farm, in Rochester, Washington. Gardening and the outdoors remain part of my identity. When not nurturing growing families, I spend much of my time building and nurturing my veggie garden, birding near and far, or otherwise exploring outside and appreciating nature with my husband, and if we’re lucky, either or both of my grown stepdaughters.
My philosophy:
Each of us as humans needs to be taken care of at various times in our life, to survive or heal, to feel we are not alone, to know we are safe and loved. Being well cared for helps us to then extend that care to others, whether that be our children and families, friends, or greater community. Everyone deserves to be held and supported as they become parents, or parents again, especially if also recovering from pregnancy and birth. I find deep meaning being a companion and a pillar of support during this time, to help parents find their way to healing, confidence, and joy as they adjust to caring for a new being.
I firmly believe in Reproductive Justice, the human right to maintain personal bodily autonomy, have children, not have children, and parent the children we have in safe and sustainable communities (Reproductive Justice — Sister Song). My role as your postpartum doula is to support you to parent in a manner that you identify as best for you and your family.
